1/24/04 She sure is strong willed. A few times a day now she will arch her back and scream when she doesn't get her way. Taking something out of her hands or just changing her diaper can send her into a fit. My greatest fear is a naughty child. I try to be calm when it happens but it kind of scares me! 1/12/04 We made it through the holidays! Hadley is now crawling and pulling herself to a standing position. Life as I knew it is over since she needs a constant eye to watch her! She heads straight for the dog food most days, but first looks back at me with a mischievous grin. She now has 2 bottom teeth and is eating regular food (most anything!). Her daddy calls her "Punkyroo" and he is her favorite guy. 10/14/03 Hadley is 6 months old! I can't believe how fast the past 6 months went. She has become my whole life. I was thinking how perfect it is that I was over 40 when I had her. I have everything in my life pretty worked out so I can focus and enjoy her. 9/14/03 Hadley loves her daycare. She smiles the second we walk in so I don't worry about it at all. They all say she is a happy, content baby so that makes me feel good. She also had her first food this month - applesauce at Grandma Veld's. Aside from the suckers that Grandma Marilyn shares with her, that was her first "real" food. 8/04/03 Hadley's first day of daycare. The place is kind of neat because I can watch her on the internet. I really like that piece of mind and I'll be checking in often. It was a tough day and I didn't leave her very long. 7/25/03 Got Hadley's ears pierced. She cried for about 10 seconds and that was it. Grandma Marilyn videotaped it and made it clear that it wasn't her idea! I put little diamonds in her ears since that is her birthstone and then I won't be tempted to change them for at least 5 years. 7/27/03 Hadley was baptized today at Messiah New Hope. Donnie & Theresa DeJager and Don Otten were her Godparents. Afterwards we had brunch at Theos and hung out in Grandma Marilyn's backyard for a while. Her baptismal gown was a gift from Don and since it was so hot, she was barefoot. 7/21/03 Starting to hang on to things (and try to eat them!) 7/16/03Poor baby got her first vaccinations. Then the nurse pricked her own finger so we had to spend an hour getting blood from Hadley's foot so they could make sure she didn't have HIV. I was so pissed! Then Donnie informs me that I could have just said "no" and left. Poor thing has a little bruised heel and I feel like killing someone. 7/14/03 Hadley hates blankets! Especially on her feet. 7/04/03 I thought it was the TV when I heard a little girls voice...then I realized it was Hadley babbling. That was weird. She is figuring out that she can make sounds. 6/26/03 If I stick out my tongue Hadley will do the same. She also loves to look at herself in the mirror. With her to photograph, I've been having fun with the digital camera and Adobe Photoshop. 6/20/03 Today I had to stop trying to force Hadley into the newborn diapers. They seriously are too small. I wonder is she still considered a newborn? I don't think I want her to get any bigger. 6/14/03 Home from the family reunion in northern Minnesota! Hadley got to meet all the cool relatives (the one's on her mother's side.) And I found out she has allergies. I guess that shouldn't be a surprise since her brother and dad have them. I was just hoping she'd be able to love kitties like I do. 6/10/03 Hadley has acquired a few nicknames: Little Budha, Piglet, and Squeaker 6/02/03 I think I work more now that I did before! Since Hadley likes to be "attached" all the time, I just work on my computer all day with her on my boppy pillow. She is either eating or sleeping there in my lap all day. Actually, it works out pretty well unless I need to use the bathroom. Of course, when I set her down she wakes up immediately and looks at me like, "How dare you put me down!" 5/29/03 I took Hadley to the doctor today. She is really gaining weight - almost 10 pounds! She has little breast buds that are producing milk but apparently that's normal. Whodathunkit? 5/26/03 Went to Sears to have her first pictures taken. What a disaster! Not only did she scream through each pose, she peed all over me and the "pretty baby girl" prop. If I don't show my face there again, I hope they forget me. 5/15/03 Hadley can hold her head up pretty well...especially when she's mad or thinks my boob may be in front of her. 5/12/03 She is rolling over today! When put on her back, Hadley will promptly roll onto her stomache. Then flailing her arms and legs, she will mimic a turtle trying to find water. 5/10/03 My pretty baby has zits and they are not pretty at all! I WAS planning on getting her first month's picture taken this week! 5/06/03 OK...her first REAL bath. It went pretty well until I took her out. Of course, she peed all over me so back in the tub she went! 5/3/2003 Hadley's first temper tantrum! Her little face turned red and her legs stuck straight out! I was waiting for little horns to sprout! I only hope she won't need Ritalin in the near future. 5/2/03 First doctor appointment today. Hadley weighs 7.2 lbs and is 20.25 inches long. Growing fast already! I thought the doctor was going to choke when I told her my mother calls Hadley "the little tick" because she nurses 20 hours a day. 4/30/03 Did I really say that MY kid would never be parked in front of the TV? Who'd have known that the power of cartoons could capture a 2 week old's attention? She hasn't yet focused on my face, but she loves Scooby Doo's! 4/27/03 I have become a human pacifier. 4/23/03 Hadley had her first booger. Nothing too green or gross, but a booger none the less. I think of them as the nastiest part of babies and I freaked. I'm glad I took off my artificial nails because I was able to grab it with my fingernail without hardly looking. 4/26/03 I slept good last night! I think I got 5 or 6 hours! I learned that if I sleep on my back I can put Hadley on my chest and it works out great. Better than when she lays beside me because then she has milk dripping down the side of her face and she gets stuck to the sheet! 4/18/03 Home from the hospital with my baby girl! It was quite a pleasant experience since I got the c-section I asked for. I feel great.Who the hell said childbirth was supposed to hurt anyway? My 4 days in the hospital being waited on hand and foot was a nice vacation! 4/14/03 Hadley was born at 2:29 am via an enjoyable c-section. Grandma Marilyn watched while Daddy Denny videotaped (and subsequently taped over the birth.) She came out loudly exercising her lungs like a true DeJager! | ||||||||||||||||||||||
